I have spent the last few weeks switching back and forth between the Fitbit Versa and the Apple Watch 3 with LTE to attempt to discover which is the best. In this video, I will give you 5 Reasons to Buy a Fitbit Versa Instead of an Apple Watch 3.

Hey, what’s up? It’s Jerad with StateofTech, and I wanted to give you five reasons to buy the Fitbit Versa instead of the Apple Watch 3. Let’s jump right in, and remember, subscribing to our channel here gets you updates when we put out new videos, and if this video is helpful to you, give it a thumbs up.

All right, so fitness data would probably be the number one reason I would say why you would want to buy the Fitbit Versa over the Apple Watch. I’ll talk briefly about this, and there’s also a comparison video that I did between the two where I go much deeper into this. The Fitbit Versa has a consistent tracking of your heart rate and everything. The sensors are running all the time, whereas on the Apple Watch it tends to kind of go in and out, so it gives you enough data for it to be consistent, like a good look at your entire 24 hours, but the Fitbit Versa actually never stops tracking this stuff, which means it’s going to give you much better data for your workouts as far as where your heart rate was, and then also it’s going to give you much better sleep tracking information, which I think is for me pretty important. I like to look at the quality of my sleep and get a good overview of that.

I’m a parent and a husband, and so sometimes there are distractions and things that would affect my sleep with having three kids in the house and a small dog, so it’s just, I like to be able to track my sleep. The next day when I wake up, if I feel refreshed, if I don’t feel refreshed, I definitely want to be able to kind of look at that and say, “Okay, now I have that data,” and I can’t really get that good a data from the Apple Watch. If you want to see more of an exact reason why, check out the comparison video between the two, but the Fitbit Versa definitely does provide better data.

Number two is another huge one. It’s the cost. The Fitbit Versa is significantly cheaper. I’ve got links down in the description below for you so you can see the latest pricing on Amazon. Stuff like that changes from time to time, so I won’t mention it in the video, other than the fact that the Fitbit Versa is cheaper than the Apple Watch, and the links are down in the description below. If you do decide to pick up a Fitbit Versa, the link down below, if you buy from the Amazon link, helps support our channel, which we appreciate.

I make these videos to help inform and to help us all just understand maybe what the difference is and maybe what the best option are. Then it’s up to you to decide whether to buy one or not. The cost definitely is a huge one. If you want a fitness tracker, you want some of the cool things that the Apple Watch has but just don’t want to spend the money, the Fitbit Versa is a great option, and if you want more details on some of those differences, check out that other video. Like I said, link down in the description below.

The third is the size. Now, the Apple Watch is significantly bigger than the Fitbit Versa, and that really is important. I think especially if you are moving around a lot, you hit your watch on things, it gets in the way. Maybe sometimes you wear nice shirts, long sleeves, having the big watch just kind of, I don’t know, it can be kind of a pain in the butt. I like the slim design and style of the Fitbit Versa. It’s so minimal. It has a nice look. It doesn’t look like a fitness device, but it also has a nice watch face and a nice colorful interface, so it looks really good, and it’s super slim. You also get, which I’m getting a little bit ahead of myself here.

I guess we’ll jump right into the next one, which is battery life. The battery life is a bit better on the Fitbit Versa than the Apple Watch. Of course, the Apple Watch is doing a lot more, but it also has a bigger battery. The battery life on the Apple Watch is pretty decent, considering everything that it’s doing, but on the Fitbit Versa, you’re going to easily get four days or so out of it.

Of course, if you’re doing more active stuff out running using the fitness options inside of the watch, that may decrease your battery life a little bit, but I’ve had no problem getting four days of battery life. That means weekend trips away, don’t even have to bring a charger with me, don’t have to worry about it. The Apple Watch, I’m always worrying about the battery going dead. I have to use the Apple Watch very minimally to get more than, to get around three days of battery life out of it, so even though the Apple Watch is good compared to previous versions, the Fitbit Versa gives me more of that longevity. I don’t have to really worry about it.

The fifth thing is that it’s cross-platform. I live in a world, and maybe you do too, where you want to be able to jump back and forth between different types of devices. Maybe if the next version of the iPhone isn’t super exciting to you, you might actually jump over to Android and try Android out, or maybe you just jumped over to the iPhone and you’re not completely sure whether or not you want to stay. The cool thing about Fitbit is that your Fitbit data is universal between whether you’re on an Apple iPhone device or you’re on an Android device.

If you’re using the Apple Watch, you’re stuck to Apple’s platform. The Apple Watch doesn’t work with anything else, and it’s really a bummer. I mean, you can’t even use the Apple Watch standalone without having an iPhone for it to interface with, even if you have the LTE version. That’s a real bummer to me, because I like the Apple Watch, but if I ever wanted to switch back over to Android or use an Android device as my primary phone, then I wouldn’t be able to, but with the Fitbit Versa or pretty much any Fitbit device, you’re going to get that cross-platform. What’s really cool about it is, it’s very easy to go back and forth between devices, so even if you sometimes carry a personal iPhone and then sometimes carry a work Android phone, having the app installed on both devices and then having it sync with both devices, like it will actually do that, which is pretty cool.

That’s going to do it for the five reasons. I think that there is a lot more to consider, which is why I did a more lengthy video on the comparison between the two, but if you wanted my five reasons on why you should choose the Fitbit Versa over the Apple Watch, those are them. I hope that if you have one maybe a thought of your own, share it in the comments section. I’d love to hear maybe why you would choose the Fitbit Versa over the Apple Watch, besides, of course, the fact that Apple is who Apple is or whatever. I get a lot of that when I ask for these questions, so try to leave something helpful down in the comments section, and I’d love to interact with all of you there. Again, remember to give this video a thumbs up if you liked it, and subscribe to the channel if you want to see more videos from us here on StateofTech. Until next time, I’m Jerad, and I hope to see you back here. Take care.
