The Galaxy S9 and S9+ for that matter have tall displays that can make it cumbersome to access the Notification Panel without holding the device with both hands. In this video, I’ll show you how you can quickly open the notification panel from the home screen of your device.
I’m gonna show you how to easily access your notifications with a swipe down on your home screen on your Galaxy S9 and S9+. Now, by default, the way that your phone is set up is to swipe up for the app drawer and to swipe down for the app drawer anywhere on your home screen, and this is how you’re gonna access the app drawer. Now, on other devices or even on custom launchers, I usually set it up to where you can swipe down for notifications and swipe up for the app drawer. It just seems a little bit more natural to me, and Samsung actually has that option available for you.
So, all you have to do is tap and hold anywhere in the area of the home screen to open up your home screen settings. Now, coming down to the settings in the bottom right-hand corner, and then we’re gonna see Quick Open Notification panel down at the bottom of the screen. Toggle that on, and what this is going to allow us to do is come back home, swipe up for the app drawer, but swipe down for our notification panel. Now, what’s also nice is we can swipe down one more time to access all of our quick settings up there at the top of the screen and even the brightness lighter if we have that hidden that area. So, that’s a quick way of getting into your notification panel and even your quick settings by enabling the swipe down option here on your home screen.
Now, keep in mind this doesn’t work in any sort of other apps, like this. See, I’m swiping up and down in this application, and the application UI itself has taken over. This is only going to be a function on the home screen. Swipe up for the app drawer. Swipe down for notification panel.
