All Galaxy S9’s in the US come with 64GB of internal storage. If you are finding that storage capacity isn’t enough you can expand it by putting a microSD card into your device. In this video, I’ll show you how to can save photos and videos onto that SD card to free up some storage.

Let’s take a look at how to save photos and videos to your SD card on our Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus.

Now, all Samsung devices come with 64 gigabytes of internal storage, but you can expand that by adding a micro SD card on top of your device, in the sim card tray. Once you’ve added that, you’ll be able to save photos and videos directly to the SD card and not into the internal storage of your device.

The way that you do this, assuming that you’ve inserted an SD card, is to come into your camera, tap on the setting icon on the bottom left-hand corner of your actual camera UI, and then swipe down til we see storage location. By default, everything will be set to device storage, so all you have to do is tap on there and then tap on SD card. Now all of your photos and videos will be saved to the SD card on your device.

Now let’s say you happen to take any photos or videos before adding in the SD card and you wanted to move those over, all you have to do is come into your app drawer and we’re gonna look for the gallery app. Here on my device, it’s in the top right-hand corner, so tap on the gallery and then we’re gonna make sure that we’re in the albums tab.

I can see that I have a lot of photos and videos already on the SD card because my camera, I can see there’s a camera icon and an SD card on the thumbnail image letting me know that all those images are, by default, being saved into the SD card. Now, I can select in another album, say my emojis, I can actually select some video files here or photos and go ahead and start tapping on them and tap on the three dots in the top right-hand corner, and say move to album. From here, as long as I select camera, what they’re gonna do is be moved from my internal storage onto the SD card.

That way, those photos will no longer live on my device itself, but they will live on the SD card and if I ever wanted to, I could take that SD card out of my phone and say, plug it into my computer or any sort of printing software and print those photos or even transfer those photos and video files over to my computer.

So, that is how you use the SD card in your Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus. If you found this video useful, be sure and give it a thumbs up. And for more videos like this, be sure and subscribe to State of Tech. We’ll see you in the next one.
